This photo is the finished quilt.
I decided on redwork so that it would be great for the holidays. And I added the extra border on the outside just to make it a little larger.
I told you there were billions of tree branches to stitch.
When I quilted it (by machine) I wanted to give it more detail, so I quilted clouds in the sky and smoke coming out of the chimney. I made drifts in the snow.
I quilted trees on the center panel.
Thanks for letting me share my quilt today. I really enjoyed making it. I have made a few more of the Crabapple Hill Studio projects that I will probably share with you soon. I usually keep some kind of embroidery going at all times. But it just does not get completed as quickly as the other projects. But if something is happening where I have to have a project to go. I will grab the bag and have a little hand project to keep me out of trouble.
Beautiful! What line are these red fabrics from?
ReplyDeleteI collected fabrics for this quilt for a little while so most of them are from the Blue Hill collection called Pan Am that was out a couple years ago. There were a few others mixed in to make enough variety, but they were just things I had that color matched. Thank you for your kind comments.
DeleteGorgeous~! That pattern is in my upcoming projects pile. I may have to rethink the black/tan version after seeing your beautiful red one.
ReplyDeleteI saved the black work for the Halloween quilt. Maybe I will share it soon. But I have seen it in Blackwork and also in Blue work. It was beautiful in both colors. It made me want to do a blue one.
DeleteBeautiful...i especially like how you machine quilted. Creating clouds and smoke and drifts...very creative.
ReplyDeleteTerrific quilt and a marathon to complete for sure!
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt & especially the red. I just finished a redwork embroidered quilt top & wonder if you quilt over the embroidery or just around it?
ReplyDeleteI try my best not to quilt over the handwork. So I do a lot of stopping and starting. I think that lets my handwork really stand out.
DeleteLove going to Grandmas house in the redwork. I have done this same quilt in the black and tans and just love it. I am just starting to trace out the Vintage tins by Crabapple at the moment. Can't wait to see it completed.
